(4/14) Mindset Monday: Growth Mindset

In wrestling—and life—success doesn’t come from being perfect. It comes from being persistent. A growth mindset means believing that your abilities aren’t fixed—they can improve with effort, time, and feedback.

When you struggle with a new move or take a tough loss, it’s not a failure—it’s an opportunity. The best wrestlers don’t fear mistakes. They learn from them.

This week, challenge yourself to add the word “yet” to your thinking and remind yourself to keep working

“I’m not good at hand fighting… yet but I will keep practicing it”

“I still don't understand the Freestyle rules… yet but if i keep working it will come”

“I can’t hit that move… yet but with more reps I will be able to”

Remind yourself: when we focus more on growing than on outcomes, we remove the ceiling on what we’re capable of. Sure, winning every match would be great—but when we seek to get better every day, the results compound at a much greater rate.

This Week’s Goal:

Pick one area of your wrestling that you usually get frustrated with—maybe it’s a certain move, position, or mindset. Instead of avoiding it, commit to working on it at least 2 times this week.

Every time you catch yourself thinking “I can’t,” add the word: “yet.”

Write it down. Say it out loud. Believe it.
